Bayern Munich return with improved bid for Chelsea starlet

Bayern Munich have made an improved £30m bid to sign Chelsea prospect Callum Hudson-Odoi, claims The Sun.

The Bundesliga giants have earmarked Hudson-Odoi as a top January transfer target as they seek to overhaul their ageing squad over the next few transfer windows.

Bayern have already had a £20m bid rejected by Chelsea, who are desperate to hold onto Hudson-Odoi.

However, the 18-year-old has entered the final 18 months of his current Chelsea deal and has barely got a look-in under Maurizio Sarri this season.

Hudson-Odoi featured prominently in pre-season and was expected to enjoy a breakthrough campaign this term but things haven’t gone to plan.

Chelsea announced a deal for Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Christian Pulisic on Wednesday, who would provide direct competition for places with Hudson-Odoi when he arrives in the summer.

Bundesliga sides have started to raid English clubs for their best talents following Jadon Sancho’s roaring success with Dortmund over the last 12 months.

Hudson-Odoi has only made one substitute appearance in the Premier League this season but did feature in four of Chelsea’s six Europa League group matches.

In fact, the teen has an impressive WhoScored rating of 7.65 in the Europa League despite making two substitute appearances in that time.

Hudson-Odoi scored once and provided one assist, while completing 90.1% of his passes. Furthermore, of players that have made at least three appearances in the competition this season, only AC Milan youngster Alen Halilovic (6.1) averages more dribbles per 90 than Hudson-Odoi (5.8).
