Tottenham blow as Hojbjerg agrees Everton switch

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has agreed personal terms of a switch to Everton after visiting their training ground on Tuesday, claims The Daily Echo.

Southampton gave Hojbjerg the greenlight to travel to Merseyside for talks with the Toffees after accepting their £25m offer.

The Denmark international has entered the final 12 months of his current Southampton contract and has made it clear he wants to leave this summer.

Hojbjerg had been holding out for a move to Tottenham but Jose Mourinho's side have refused to match Everton's latest offer.

Carlo Ancelotti has identified Hojbjerg as the perfect midfielder for his system and Everton are on the brink of closing a deal for the 25-year-old.

It is a huge blow for Mourinho before the current campaign has even finished and is a glimpse of what is to come over the summer.

The Tottenham manager has already been warned there will be little money to spend this summer as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Hojbjerg has won possession in the middle third more times than any other player in the Premier League this season (181).
