Bayern defender targeted by European elite, says agent

Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng has received interest from Premier League and La Liga clubs, according to the player’s agent.

Boateng, 27, has developed into one of the best centre-backs in Europe since making the move from Manchester City to Bayern in 2011.

The Germany international still has three years left to run on his current deal at Bayern but his agent, Christian Nerlinger, expects the defender to ignore the attentions of Europe’s powerhouse clubs to extend his stay at the Allianz Arena.

“He has stirred interest at Spanish and English top clubs,” Nerlinger told Kicker, but added: “When Bayern want to keep a player then they also have the means to succeed in doing so.”

No Bayern player to have started more than three matches in the Bundesliga is winning more aerial duels per game than Boateng for Bayern this season (1.9).
