Chelsea confirm £50m arrival of Leicester full-back Chilwell
Chelsea have announced the arrival of Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell for a reported £50m fee.
Chilwell has put pen to paper on a five-year deal running until the summer of 2025 worth in the region of £190,000-a-week.
Leicester have reluctantly sanctioned Chilwell's switch to Chelsea at the player's request after Brendan Rodgers' side failed to qualify for next season's Champions League.
There were fears whether Chilwell would pass his medical due to a current heel injury that will rule him out of England's upcoming games and the start of the Premier League season.
However, Chelsea are not concerned and have pressed ahead to get a deal over the line and continue their stunning summer splurge.
"I am delighted to be joining Chelsea at this very exciting time for the club," he told the club's official website.
"I'm looking forward to being a part of this young, dynamic squad led by Frank Lampard as we challenge for hours next season.
"I can't wait to get started and hopefully it won't be long before we're playing in front of the Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge"
Chelsea have been the most active club in the transfer window in Europe and are on the verge of taking their summer dealings beyond the £200m mark, having already welcomed Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.
Ex-Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva is on the brink of signing for Chelsea, as is Bayer Leverkusen starlet Kai Havertz in a club-record deal.
Chelsea have been pursuing Chilwell's signature all summer after Lampard made it clear Marcos Alonso and Emerson are surplus to requirements last season.
The 23-year-old played a direct hand in six goals in 27 league appearances for Leicester last season and his directness going forward will add another dimension to Chelsea's attack.
It seems pretty obvious that Chelsea is deliberately violating FFP rules. Why isn't this being reported?
