Paris Saint-Germain are set to announce Edinson Cavani has signed a new two-year contract extension keeping him at the club until at least 2020, reports L’Equipe, via Get French Football.
Cavani’s previous deal was due to expire in 2018 but the reigning Ligue 1 champions have been understandably moved to secure his long-term future following his stunning start to the season.
The Uruguay international has flourished since being move centrally this season in the wake of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s departure to Manchester United over the summer.
PSG have endured a underwhelming start to the season but Cavani has been in tremendous form and it may have been even worse for Unai Emery had it not been for Cavani’s form in front of goal.
Cavani has scored at least two more goals than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues this season (18).
