Chelsea star fractures ankle on international duty

The Belgium Football Association have announced Eden Hazard could face up to two months out injured after fracturing his right ankle in training.

Hazard was preparing to play in Monday’s Friendly with the Czech Republic ahead of Belgium’s Friday’s World Cup qualifier against Estonia but Roberto Martinez will now be without his captain for both matches.

The 26-year-old will now almost certainly miss the start of next season to provide Chelsea with an early blow in the summer, but it should at least end Real Madrid’s interest in the Premier League star for now.

Hazard only last week pledged his future to the Premier League champions for the next two years but Zinedine Zidane’s side were still expected to test Chelsea's resolve this summer. However, news Hazard won’t even be fit until the start of next season should put any plans on the back burner.

The Chelsea star finished the season as the highest rated player in the Premier League (7.92) after scoring 16 goals and registering five assists in 36 matches.
