Napoli rejected €100m bid from Barcelona

Barcelona failed with a sensational €100m (£91.6m) bid for Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne on Friday, reports Gazzetta dello Sport, via Football Italia.

The Spanish giants desperately scrambled to sign another offensive player on Friday’s deadline but failed with bids for Philippe Coutinho, Angel di Maria and also Insigne.

Insigne has been in irresistible form for Napoli this year and has even been called the greatest Italian talent over the last decade by legendary manager Arrigo Sacchi.

However, the deadline for Italian clubs had already passed by the time Barcelona firmed up their interest in the 26-year-old and Napoli rejected the stunning offer.

Since August 2015, only Napoli team-mate Marek Hamsik (151) has created more chances from open play than Insigne (117) in Serie A.
