Paris Saint-Germain intensify pursuit of Serie A midfielder

Paris Saint-Germain haven’t given up hope of signing Allan but have no intention of matching Napoli’s valuation of the midfielder, claims Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Ligue 1 champions have made signing a new midfielder a priority this month but are running out of time with only just over a week left in the transfer window remaining.

PSG have been heavily linked with a number of midfielders around Europe and Allan has emerged as their top target, though Napoli value the Brazilian at €120m (£104.6m).

Napoli were reportedly willing to settle for a fraction of that price earlier in the month but with time ticking away they have bumped up his value in order to fend off interest from PSG.

Losing Allan now would leave Napoli with hardly any time to get a replacement through the door, even with PSG willing to bid €80m (£69.8m) for the 28-year-old.

PSG are in even more of a rush to sign a new midfielder now that Marco Verratti is sidelined with a sprained ankle and a serious doubt for the first leg of their Champions League last 16 clash with Manchester United.

Since the beginning of last season, Allan has won possession in the middle third more times than any other player in Serie A (235).
