Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli is a surprise inclusion in Roy Hodgson’s 23-man England squad for their upcoming fixtures against Estonia and Lithuania.
Ali, 19, had only been plying his trade in League One last season before joining Spurs over the summer, but the teen has wasted no time in settling in to his new surroundings and has emerged as a vital player for Mauricio Pochettino in the early stages of the season.
The Spurs midfielder has featured in seven fixtures in all competitions this season, scoring one goal and registering one assist.
The former MK Dons midfielder has also been joined by Liverpool striker Danny Ings in Hodgson’s squad as the only other notable inclusion for their upcoming qualifiers.
Having already secured qualification to next summers European Championships, Hodgson had been expected to include fresh faces and Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish was another that would have been called up had his international clearance been authorised in time.
