Man City keeping tabs on Real Sociedad hitman

Manchester City are keeping tabs on Real Sociedad star Mikel Oyarzabal as the Premier League champions seek to bolster their attack, reports TEAMtalk.

Oyarzabal has started the 2021/22 La Liga season well, netting four times in five outings for La Real, with only Real Madrid pair Karim Benzema (6) and Vinicius Junior (5) scoring more goals in Spain's top tier.

City boss Pep Guardiola is a keen admirer of Oyarzabal and had weighed up a move for the Spain international as a replacement for Leroy Sane when he left for Bayern Munich in 2020.

However, City were unwilling to pay the 24-year-old's £70m release clause, but remain interested in signing the Real Sociedad hitman.

Oyarzabal is able to play anywhere across the frontline, which appeals to Guardiola after the club's failed pursuit of Harry Kane over the summer.

Ligue 1 powerhouse PSG and Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are also interested in the Spanish striker, who is expected to feature for Real Sociedad when they take on Granada on Thursday night.

Oyarzabal has been excellent for La Real in recent seasons and has had a direct hand in 23 of Real Sociedad's 65 league goals (35.4%) since the start of 2020/21.
