Zidane makes decision on Odegaard's Real Madrid future

Zinedine Zidane will recall Martin Odegaard from his loan spell at Real Sociedad and blood him into the Real Madrid first-team for next season, claims Marca.

Odegaard was a revelation for Real Sociedad last season and the Spanish side have an option to take the Norway international on loan for another 12 months.

The 21-year-old hasn't turned out for Madrid in LaLiga since the 2014/15 campaign and there were doubts whether he would ever again.

However, Odegaard has made the most of loan spells at Vitesse and Real Sociedad to work his way back into Zidane's planning.

The Frenchman wants to inject fresh energy into the side with the likes Luka Modric turning 35 in less than a month and Toni Kroos already the wrong side of 30.

With James Rodriguez transfer listed, coupled with financial problems holding Madrid back in the transfer market, Zidane is ready to turn his attention to Odegaard.

The young attacking midfielder finished the 2019/20 campaign with 10 goals and assists in LaLiga, as Sociedad secured Europa League football for next season.

Moreover, Only Sergio Canales (2.2) and Leo Messi (2.7) averaged more key passes per game than Odegaard (2) in LaLiga last term.
