Sunderland have announced they have signed Javier Manquillo on a season-long loan deal from Atletico Madrid.
David Moyes is desperate to add defensive reinforcement to his squad before the transfer window shuts on Wednesday and has succeeded in strengthening the right side of his defence with the arrival of Manquillo.
The 22-year-old has spent the last two years out on loan from Atletico, including a year at Liverpool, but he is now at Sunderland where the Black Cats hold a right to make the switch permanent on a four-year deal at the end of the season.
No player completed more tackles and interceptions in Ligue 1 for Marseille last season than Manquillo (164).
