Another Bayern Munich player is unhappy with reserve role

Joshua Kimmich has put a number of Europe’s biggest clubs on high alert after becoming the second player in recent weeks to voice their unhappiness at the club under Carlo Ancelotti.

The Germany international has struggled to make himself a regular since Ancelotti replaced Pep Guardiola over the summer and a lack of playing time has forced the 22-year-old to reconsider his future at Bayern.

Kimmich excelled towards the end of Guardiola’s last year at the Bundesliga giants and has already proven a fine player in a variety of positions, versatility that would appeal to a number of managers.

“It does not matter whether I understand it or not. The fact is I’m not satisfied with it and I want to change it,” FourFourTwo quotes Kimmich as saying after speaking with reporters following their 3-0 win over Frankfurt on Saturday.

“The coach knows I can play as a number six and at right back, also in the centre of defence. From that he has many options to use me. I know my weaknesses and work on them – especially when I’m not playing, I try to do more. “In the Bundesliga we have a good lead now and maybe [the team] will be rotated.”

Bayern would be reluctant to lose Kimmich, with the youngster being billed as Philip Lahm’s long-term successor when the Bayern skipper retires at the end of the current campaign.

Nevertheless, Kimmich is not the only player unhappy at the club. Douglas Costa has also been very vocal in complaining about his role after dropping below Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery in the pecking order under Ancelotti.

Kimmich has only started two of Bayern’s last 10 matches in all competitions.  However, despite a lack of game time and the fact Kimmich is not in the team for his goalscoring exploits, only Robert Lewandowski (21) and Arjen Robben (8) have scored more goals than Kimmich (4).
