Arsenal have confirmed Arsene Wenger will leave the club at the end of the season.
The Frenchman was widely expected to leave last summer but ended up penning a new two-year extension.
Arsenal have continued to struggle under Wenger this season and now the 68-year-old has decided to leave the Gunners this summer.
“After careful consideration and following discussions with the club, I feel it is the right time for me to step down at the end of the season,” he told the club’s official website.
“I am grateful for having had the privilege to serve the club for so many memorable years.
“I managed the club will full commitment and integrity. I want to thank the staff, the players, the directors and the fans who make this club so special.
“I urge our fans to stand behind the team to finish on a high. To all the Arsenal lovers take care of the values of the club. My love and support for ever.”
Arsenal are currently 14 points adrift of the top four and are now fully focused on winning this season’s Europa League as their ticket into next season’s Champions League.
Wenger has spent almost 22 years as Arsenal manager, winning the Premier League on three occasions and a record seven FA Cup triumphs.
