Liverpool have rejected Barcelona’s improved offer of €100m (£89.4m) for Philippe Coutinho and insist he is not for sale at any price, reports RMC, via Marca.
Barcelona are resigned to the fact Neymar will join Paris Saint-Germain this summer and are now desperate to sign his close friend, and international team-mate, Coutinho as his replacement.
Jurgen Klopp has already gone on record to categorically rule out Coutinho’s departure from the club this summer but that hasn’t stopped Barcelona from increasing their original €80m (£71.5m) bid.
Despite having a second bid turned down, coupled with Klopp’s comments to the press, Barcelona are confident they will be able to prize the Brazilian away from Anfield, although have earmarked Borussia Dortmund whizz Ousmane Dembele as an alternative.
In the last two seasons in Europe’s top five leagues, only Lionel Messi (15) has scored more goals from outside the area than Coutinho (10).
