Arsenal willing to break the bank for Serie A goal machine

Arsenal are prepared to spend upwards of £70m in order to sign Dusan Vlahovic this month, reports The Daily Mirror.

The Gunners fell to a 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday evening as they struggled to break down the Championship side's defence.

Head coach Mikel Arteta has admitted the north London side are "open" to completing a big deal in the January window and with Alexandre Lacazette out of contract in the summer and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out of favour at the Emirates, striker Vlahovic has emerged as a top target.

The likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham and Juventus, among others, have been linked with a move for the 21-year-old, who leads the Serie A scoring charts with 16 goals to his name.

However, while interested parties may be willing to do a deal for the young forward in the summer when Fiorentina's stance on the striker could soften as he enters the final year of his contract, Arsenal are ready to spend big on Vlahovic this month.

Vlahovic has scored more clear-cut goalscoring chances (10) than any other player in Italy's top tier this term to help reinforce a statistically calculated WhoScored strength of 'finishing'.
