Manchester City have announced Kelechi Iheanacho has agreed to a new two-year contract extension keeping him at the club until 2021.
Iheanacho, 19, still had three years remaining on his existing deal but City have looked to tie down his long-term future after an impressive break through campaign last season.
The Nigeria international was part of the reason why Manuel Pellegrini decided against signing a new striker last season despite having sold Stevan Jovetic and Edin Dzeko.
New manager Pep Guardiola has also taken to the teenager and Iheanacho is delighted to have committed his future to his boyhood club.
“I can’t express how I’m feeling! I’m very happy to sign my new deal for the club,” he told City’s official website. “I just need to keep working hard and express my feelings on the pitch, and work really well and do great things for the team.
“I’m happy and I appreciate everything the club has done for me so far at this point so I really need to help and work for them as well.”
No player that has scored at least five goals since the start of last season in the Premier League has done so at a better rate than Iheanacho (every 95.1 minutes).
