Barcelona will demand £85m in order to sell midfielder Frenkie de Jong this summer with both Chelsea and Manchester United linked with a move for the Dutchman, reports Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.

United courted De Jong in Erik ten Hag's first summer at the Old Trafford helm but were left frustrated in their efforts to sign the Netherlands international.

United eventually signed Casemiro from Real Madrid in a bid to bolster their midfielder and the Brazilian shone in his debut campaign for Ten Hag's side.

However, the Brazilian turns 32 later this month and United are aware they'll need to shop around for replacements for Casemiro, who has been linked with a big-money move to Saudi Arabia.

Ten Hag's side won't be the only team interested in De Jong this summer should Barcelona look to sell with Chelsea tipped to cash in Conor Gallagher at the end of the season, so they may need a replacement for the 24-year-old.

Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino is eager to retain Gallagher's services but some at the club are prepared to sell the England international in order to not breach the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules.

Gallagher has a little over 12 months left to run on his current Chelsea deal, which could force the Blues to cash in on the Tottenham target later this year.

De Jong has started 16 league games for Xavi's side this season and has earned a WhoScored rating of 7.09 in the process, that ranking third for Barcelona.
