Manchester City have opened contract talks with David Silva over a new one-year extension, reports The Daily Mail.
Silva has two years remaining on his existing deal but City are now hopeful of adding another 12 months to that contract, which would take the Spaniard through to his 34th birthday.
The City ace established himself as one of the club’s greatest ever players since joining from Valencia in 2010 and is a firm favourite of boss Pep Guardiola.
The 46-year-old has already revealed he tried to sign Silva when he was at Barcelona and now City are looking tie him down to his 10th year at the Etihad.
In the last seven Premier League campaigns, Silva has registered at least 15 more assists than any other player (66).
