Alexis Sanchez has decided where he will be playing next season
Alexis Sanchez has revealed he knows which team he will be playing for next season but has refused to specify whether he will be at Arsenal or Manchester City.
The Chile international is currently focused on Sunday’s final of the Confederations Cup against Germany and will deal with his future after the tournament.
Sanchez has 12 months remaining on his current Arsenal deal and has turned down previous offers to extend his stay, with Pep Guardiola keen to reunite with the former Barcelona forward at City.
Guardiola is prepared to wait for Sanchez this summer and the 28-year-old has revealed he has made a decision on his future, but won’t tell anyone just yet.
“Good question,” The Guardian quote Sanchez as saying when asked whether he would be teammates with City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo next season. “Right now, I am focused on the Confederations Cup. When this is finished, I will see if I stay or if I go. I don’t know. It’s clear [in my mind] but I can’t tell you anything.”
Arsene Wenger has previously insisted he would rather let Sanchez run down the final 12 months of his current deal and leave for nothing than join one of the club’s direct Premier League rivals.
However, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal would actually pass on the chance of making in excess of £40m or whether this is a bluff tactic by Wenger.
Sanchez finished last season as the second highest rated player in the Premier League (7.76), while only Harry Kane (36) scored or assisted more goals than the Arsenal No.7 (34).
