Manchester United target ready to leave Italian powerhouse
Long-term Manchester United target Kalidou Koulibaly is ready to leave Napoli this summer in pursuit of a new challenge, reports The Daily Mirror.
The Senegal international is widely considered to be one of the best centre-backs on the continent and his excellent showings at the heart of the Napoli defence has seen a number of Europe's elite sides take notice.
United have been courting Koulibaly for some time now and had pondered making a big money move for the defender last summer, and again in January, only to be priced out of a transfer.
Reports in Naples suggest that the 28-year-old has told club president Aurelio De Laurentiis that he is willing to leave in the summer if a suitable bid were received, but that he would stay if one didn't come in.
Napoli have endured a mixed campaign in Serie A this season as they sit sixth in Italy's top tier, but have improved since Gennaro Gattuso came in as Carlo Ancelotti's successor at the Stadio San Paolo helm.
If Koulibaly were to come on the market, however, United would likely face competition from Parisian powerhouse PSG, who have previously courted Koulibaly.
