Keylor Navas’ time at Real Madrid finally looks to be coming to a close after being demoted to the bench under Santiago Solari, reports AS.
Madrid signed Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea in the summer and the Belgium international is now the club’s undisputed No.1 goalkeeper after a rocky start to the season.
Navas has battled constant speculation about his future at Madrid over the last few years but is unhappy with his current situation and wants to leave in January.
The Costa Rica international has previously been linked with a move to the Premier league and will not be short of suitors if Madrid let him leave.
Navas started Madrid’s Copa del Rey win over lower-league opposition Melilla in midweek but is not happy to settle for game time in the cup.
The writing has been on the wall for the 31-year-old since Zinedine Zidane stepped down as Madrid head coach at the end of last season.
Madrid wanted to replace Navas with David De Gea and Kepa Arrizabalaga during different points of Zidane’s time at the club but the Frenchman vetoed any move due to his faith in Navas.
Only Dani Carvajal (7.27) has garnered a higher WhoScored rating for Madrid than Navas (7.22) in La Liga this season, albeit the latter has only made two league appearances.
