United keen on rekindling interest in Inter defender

Manchester United are monitoring Inter defender Miranda, according to Sky Sports, via Football Italia.

Louis van Gaal’s side have previously been linked with a move for the Brazilian before he opted to join Inter from Atletico Madrid last summer.

Miranda, 31, has almost completed the first of his two-year loan switch at the San Siro before Inter have to take up a mandatory €16m (£12.7m) option to buy in June 2017.

Jose Mourinho is expected to replace Van Gaal as United manager at the end of the season and has was recently in attendance at the San Siro to watch Inter, fuelling suggestions he is scouting potential players to bring with him to Old Trafford.

Miranda has formed a solid relationship with Jeison Murillo at the heart of Inter’s defence this season, which has conceded the third fewest amount of goals in Serie A (28). Additionally, no Inter player has made more clearances in the league this season than Miranda (122).
