Gianluigi Buffon has an offer to return to Juventus as Wojciech Szczesny’s deputy, claims Gianluca Di Marzio.
Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed Buffon will leave the club when his current deal expires at the end of the month.
The 41-year-old was originally due to spend two years at PSG but a mutual termination was agreed after 12 months.
Porto and Atalanta have been heavily linked with a move for Buffon this summer but it has now emerged new Juventus head coach Maurizio Sarri wants the Italian back in Turin.
Sarri values Buffon’s leadership qualities and Juventus are ready to hand him a one-year deal to finish his playing career.
Juventus have also cleared a major obstacle in negotiations in that Buffon accepts he will not be first choice at the club.
Buffon made just 17 league appearances for PSG last season and kept six clean sheets in that time.
However, only Walter Benitez (79.5%) had a better save success rate than Buffon (77.3%) in Ligue 1 last season.
Furthermore, of goalkeepers that made at least five appearances in Europe’s top five leagues last season, Buffon had the best pass success rate (90%).
