Sunderland summer signing Jeremain Lens insists he will not push through a move away from the club in January following the departure of Dick Advocaat, who brought him to the club.
Lens, 27, signed a four-year deal when joined Sunderland over the summer from Dynamo Kyiv.
Reports have emerged suggesting the Netherlands international will look to leave Sunderland when the transfer window reopens, but Lens insists that isn’t the case.
“It’s not the way I hoped it would start. But you know anything can happen in football,” Lens told BBC Sport.
“You know if results aren’t there the manager is the first person they’re going to sack. I didn’t only make my choice to join [for] the boss. Otherwise I have to follow him everywhere.”
Since the start of the season, only Yann M’Vila can claim to have had a direct hand in more goals for Sunderland than Lens thus far (4).
