Barcelona have confirmed they will sign Atletico Mineiro right-back Emerson at the end of the current campaign.
The Spanish giants have agreed a €12m (£10.5m) fee with Atletico Mineiro and Emerson will sign a five-year deal in the summer running until 2024.
Emerson is a Brazil Under-20 international and established himself as Atletico Mineiro’s first choice right-back last season.
Barcelona have made a clear shift with their recent transfer activity to plan for the future with additions like Frankie de Jong (21), Arthur (22), Ousmane Dembele (21), Malcom (21), Clement Lenglet (23) and Jean-Clair Todibo (19).
Emerson will spend the rest of the season on loan at Real Betis before moving to Barcelona in the summer.
Of the 92 players aged 21 and under in last season’s Brasileirao, only Internacional left-back Iago (78) completed more interceptions than Emerson (51).
