Manchester City eye move for £20m-rated Brazilian defender

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has earmarked Sao Paulo defender Eder Militao as a summer transfer target, reports The Daily Mail.

Guardiola is expected to splash the cash in the summer following City’s slow end to the season and wants to make at least three major signings.

City have lost three matches in a row after crashing out of the Champions League quarter-finals to Liverpool in midweek and Guardiola has been forced to assess his squad.

Guardiola will address his defensive options in the summer despite spending more than £150m on his backline over the course of this season and is interested in 20-year-old Militao.

The Brazilian defender, who can also play in defensive midfield, has caught the eye of a number of European clubs, including Portuguese giants Porto.

Of the 98 players aged 21 and under in last season’s Brasileirao, only Ponte Preta’s Jeferson (54) made more interceptions than Militao (47).
