Marouane Fellaini poised to sign new two-year Manchester United deal

Marouane Fellaini will sign a new two-year deal at Manchester United until 2020, reports Manchester Evening News.

The Belgium international’s current deal expires on Sunday and Fellaini revealed earlier this week that he will confirm a decision on his future then.

Fellaini turned down offers from United during the course of last season and looked set to leave at one stage.

Arsenal held talks with the 30-year-old about a shock switch to the Emirates but nothing has materialised from discussions with Unai Emery’s side.

It has now emerged that Fellaini, who is currently at the 2018 World Cup, will make a stunning u-turn and commit his best remaining years to United.

Fellaini has emerged as a key player under Jose Mourinho and the United boss has made it clear on a number of occasions that he wants the midfielder to stay.

United have already bolstered their midfield options with the £52m arrival of Fred and Fellaini’s decision to renew means Mourinho can focus on strengthening other areas of the team in the transfer market.

Fellaini struggled with injuries last season and was limited to just 16 appearances in the Premier League. United had a 81.3% win ratio from those matches, compared to just 54.5% when he did not feature.
