Juventus agree personal terms with Ajax captain De Ligt

Juventus have agreed personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain target Matthijs de Ligt, claims The Guardian.

The 19-year-old has accepted a five-year deal worth up to £415,000-a-week and Juventus have agreed to include a €150m (£134m) release clause.

De Ligt’s agent, Mino Raiola, has insisted on a release clause during negotiations, which is why Juventus have managed to leapfrog PSG in the race to sign the sought after teenager.

Release clauses are banned in France and PSG are desperately looking at ways around Raiola’s demands in order to prevent De Ligt from signing with Juventus.

The Old Lady must now agree a fee with Ajax before completing a deal for the Ajax captain, with the Dutch outfit holding out for in excess of €70m (£62.7m).

Manchester United and Barcelona were both keen on signing De Ligt earlier this summer but both have reluctantly withdrawn their interest due to the escalating finances involved.

De Ligt captained Ajax to a domestic double and the last four of the Champions League last season, while finishing in the WhoScored Team of the Season in both the league and Champions League.
