Manchester United identify Real Madrid ace as top transfer target
Manchester United will firm up their interest in Toni Kroos in the summer after identifying the Real Madrid midfielder as the perfect player to bring the best out of Paul Pogba, reports The Independent.
Pogba’s future at Old Trafford is currently in doubt after a reported strain in relationship between manager Jose Mourinho and the France international, but United have no interest in selling their star man.
Mourinho has already confirmed he will strengthen his midfield options at the end of the season and will rekindle United’s long-standing interest in Kroos with Michael Carrick set to retire.
Their Spanish counterparts missed out on Pogba’s signature to United in 2016 but Mourinho’s side are only interested in signing Kroos to partner their current No.6 and not replace him.
Madrid president Florentino Perez is planning wholesale changes to the squad at the end of the season and United are hoping to take advantage of the situation by prising Kroos away from the Bernabeu.
No La Liga player averages more passes per game than Kroos this season (78.2).
