Arsenal eye up Cech replacement

Arsenal are considering a move for Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel as a replacement for Peter Cech, reports the Sun.

Cech has been far from solid for the Gunners this term, with the north London side considering possible new arrivals to improve at the back.

Schmeichel is one who could be tempted to move to the Emirates with Arsenal exploring the possibility of moving for the Dane at the end of the season.

The 30-year-old has been a shining light in an otherwise dreary season for the Foxes and has played a key role in Leicester’s progression to the quarter-final stage of the Champions League.

Indeed, of those to make more than one Champions League appearance this season, only Jan Oblak (92%) has a better save success rate than Schmeichel (90.5%), that returning a WhoScored rating of 7.56.

With David Ospina also expected to leave in the summer, Arsenal need to strengthen between the sticks at the end of the campaign.
