Chelsea interested in Roma midfielder

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is interested in making Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic one of his first signings, according to Sky Sports.

Conte was officially confirmed as Guus Hiddink’s successor on Monday and the current Italian national team boss has been heavily linked with a number of players currently plying their trade in Serie A.

Pjanic, 26, has developed into one of Roma’s best players in recent years and has a £30m release clause. However, the Bosnia international was in London on holiday on Tuesday contrary to reports he had flown in for talks with the reigning Premier League champions.

The former Lyon midfielder has a reputation for his deadly set-pieces and he has scored at least two more free-kicks than any other player in Serie A since August 2013 (8).
