Manchester United and Bayern Munich now both monitoring young winger
Manchester United have asked Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven to ensure they are made aware of any plans to sell Steven Bergwijn, with interest mounting in the winger, according to The Mirror.
The Netherlands international is one of the Eredivisie’s biggest talents, with the 21-year-old earning a spectacular WhoScored.com rating of 8.06 in the league this season, and is being monitored by a raft of Europe’s top clubs.
United are thought to be at the front of the queue for the youngster’s signature, but with reports suggesting that Bayern Munich are also now keeping an eye on the wide man, the Red Devils are keen to ensure they stay ahead of the curve.
Both Liverpool and Inter have also been linked with an interest in Bergwijn, and it’s little wonder based on his performances this season at PSV aim to retain their Eredivisie crown.
The Dutchman has nine goals and nine assists to his name in 18 league appearances this season and has had a direct hand in at least one goal in each of his last seven outings in all competitions.
PSV reportedly value the player in the region of £25m, which is unlikely to deter interest in the player, whose contract in Eindhoven expires in 2022.
