Manchester United are weighing up a £50m summer move for Brighton striker Evan Ferguson, reports the Daily Star on Sunday.
United have already spent big to bring in a new frontman in the off-season, acquiring Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna to provide cover and competition for Rasmus Hojlund.
The Premier League side have been active in the window so far signing Zirkzee and Leny Yoro, and are expected to confirm the signings of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich.
United have a long-standing interest in the 19-year-old and are wary that Chelsea will make a move for Ferguson before long.
United's pursuit of Ferguson is helped in that newly-appointed sporting director Dan Ashworth was at Brighton when they signed the striker from Bohenians three years ago.
Injuries saw the Ireland international restricted to just 15 league starts for the Seagulls last season, though he still scored six times for the south coast side.
Erik ten Hag's side have also been linked with a move for Brentford's Ivan Toney as they look to bring in a Premier League-experienced striker.
