West Brom interested in Tottenham target

West Brom manager Tony Pulis wants to sign Middlesbrough centre-back Ben Gibson this summer but will refuse to match their £30m valuation, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Gibson is widely expected to leave Middlesbrough at the end of the season after enjoying a fine campaign for the newly promoted side.

Tottenham and Chelsea have all previously been interested in the defender, who has been on the periphery of the England squad all season but now both teams could face competition from West Brom.

However, Middlesbrough have slapped a £30m price tag on the defenders head but their bargaining power will diminish significantly if they are relegated to the Championship.

Steve Agnew’s side six points adrift of safety and have little chance of overturning that deficit with games against Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool to come in their remaining four matches.

Gibson has played in every Premier League game for Middlesbrough this season and has been one of few positives for the north east side.
