Barcelona have begun contract talks with Ivan Rakitic over extending his stay at the Camp Nou, the midfielder has confirmed.
Rakitic, 27, has made a seamless transition into the Barcelona side since joining from Sevilla at the start of last season.
The Croatia international, who still has four years left to run on his current deal, proved an integral part in their treble winning side last season and Barcelona would appear to be determined to reward his contribution and secure his long-term future.
“I’m under contract until 2019, but I’m already negotiating a new deal,” Rakitic told Croatian newspaper 24sata.
Since joining from Sevilla, only Dani Alves (45) has completed more accurate crosses than Rakitic (41) in La Liga in Barcelona.
