Which team dominated the Bundesliga team of the week for GW8
Bayern Munich thrashed rivals Borussia Dortmund 5-1 at the weekend as Robert Lewandowksi and Thomas Muller took their combined goal tally to 20 in domestic competition this season. In fact, Dortmund are the only team across Europe’s top five leagues to have scored more goals (21) than Bayern’s two strikers thus far. However, even Bayern’s victory at the weekend wasn’t enough for them to dominate the WhoScored team of the week as only Muller (8.61) and Jerome Boateng (8.48) made the cut.
Instead, newly promoted Ingolstadt reserved that right with four entrants (Tobias Levels – 8.46, Benjamin Hubner – 8.80, Pascal Grob – 8.40 & Matthew Leckie – 8.40) following their 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt at home on Saturday.
Hubner, 26, was the pick of the players and only two players bettered his WhoScored rating this weekend. The German defender was a colossal presence at the heart of Ingolstadt’s defence, winning at least two more aerial duels (8) than any other player on the pitch. Hubner also contributed with a combined seven tackles and interceptions and was denied a goal to cap off his fine performance due to the woodwork.
There was also a notable performance from right-back Levels, who laid on the assists to both goals, as Ingolstadt picked up their first win on home soil this season.
