Allardyce to consider shock Terry recall

England manager Sam Allardyce has revealed he is contemplating handing a sensational call-up to former Three Lions skipper John Terry.

Terry, 35, retired from international football in 2012 after the Football Association opened a disciplinary case against him as captain despite being cleared of racially abusing Anton Ferdinand.

The Chelsea captain appeared on the way out after his poor performances last season before the club performed a u-turn to award him a new contract and now Allardyce has conceded he would like to speak to Terry about a potential return.

“I don’t know what the political side of that might mean,” the London Evening Standard quotes Allardyce as saying. “I’ll have to have that conversation if I feel John Terry may be a possibility.

Push on whether Terry may indeed be a possibility, Allardyce said: “Maybe so. I think it depends on what John said. Maybe if I get the opportunity, I might have to give him a ring. But until I come to that selection or that process, we’ll wait and see.”

Terry has scored more headed goals (12) than any other defender in the Premier League since August 2011.
