Manchester United ready move for Argentine midfielder

Manchester United are prepared to battle the latest MLS franchise Inter Miami in the race to sign Boca Juniors midfielder Agustin Almendra, reports the Daily Star on Sunday.

The 19-year-old may have only made six league outings for the Argentine powerhouse, but his good performances in South America has seen a number of top European teams take notice.

Inter Miami, whose president is former United star David Beckham, are looking at attempting to bring Almendra to America, but they'll appreciate interest from Europe could prove too tempting for the teenager.

And at just £6.8m, he could be a good value addition to the United squad this month as head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seeks to bolster his midfield.

United have been linked with the likes of Donny van de Beek and Bruno Fernandes, though Almendra represents a low risk, high reward capture.

While Boca would be keen to retain Almendra's services, the Superliga side need to cash in on the midfielder to ease their present financial concerns.

Across his six league appearances this season, Almendra has returned a WhoScored rating of 6.75, scoring one goal in the process.
