Tottenham's club-record signing returns to Lyon

Tottenham have confirmed that club-record signing Tanguy Ndombele has returned to Lyon, two-and-a-half years after moving to north London from the French side.

Ndombele hasn't featured for Spurs since a second-half withdrawal in their FA Cup win over Morecambe earlier this month and has been training alone in the weeks since.

PSG and Valencia were linked with a move for Ndombele, but the 25-year-old has since returned to Lyon on loan until the end of the season.

"Tanguy Ndombele has joined Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais on loan until the end of the season," a statement read on Spurs' official website.

"The central midfielder returns to the club from which he joined us in July, 2019.

"He has made 91 appearances for us in all competitions to date, scoring 10 goals."

Ndombele isn't the only player set to leave Spurs on deadline day, with Giovani Lo Celso, who joined in the same summer as the Frenchman, tipped to return to Spain with Villarreal.

Meanwhile, Dele Alli is also expected to secure a January exit, with Everton his likely destination.
