Swansea City have announced they have ‘reluctantly’ parted company with manager Garry Monk.
The Swans have dropped precariously close to the drop zone after losing seven of their last 11 games in the league.
Monk was made Michael Laudrup’s successor as Swansea manger in May 2014 and led the club to their record points total in the Premier League last season (56).
The Welsh outfit have thanked Monk for his time at the club and confirm they are looking to find his replacement as soon as possible.
“To find ourselves in our current situation from where we were in the first week of September, and considering the drop of performance levels and run of results over the last three months, it has brought us to this unfortunate decision today,” Huw Jenkins told the Swansea website.
“Garry took on the job 22 months ago with the backing of everyone at the club. And when you take into account the excellent campaign we had last season when we broke all club records in the Premier League, nobody foresaw the position we would be in at this moment in time.
“It was not a decision we took lightly, especially given Garry’s history and standing within the club. And it goes without saying that we wish Garry all the very best for the future and thank him for his tremendous service, not only as a player over the last decade, but also as our manager. He will always have a warm welcome at this football club.
“We hope to appoint a replacement as soon as possible.”
Monk won 28 of the 77 matches he took charge of as manager of Swansea in all competitions (36.4%).

This is a bit disappointing, I'm sure he could have got them out of it. Maybe it's because they didn't invest as heavily as some other teams, they only really brought in Eder, Ayew and Tabanou who's hardly played. I'm sure if he had money to spend at the end of the season they could do much better.
