Everton are on the verge of landing Swansea captain Ashley Williams in a deal worth £10m, according to The Guardian.
Ronald Koeman is keen to bolster the heart of his Everton defence this summer with John Stones expected to join Manchester City in a deal worth up to £50m.
As a result, Everton have since been linked with a move for Southampton skipper Jose Fonte but are now close to landing Williams, whose eight-year association with Swansea appears close to ending.
No player has completed more clearances in the last three Premier League campaigns than Williams (1000).
