Leicester are in talks to sign West Brom defender Jonny Evans but are baulking at his agent’s £4m demands, reports The Daily Mail.
Evans is available for just £3m this summer due to a release clause in his existing West Brom deal.
The Northern Ireland international has previously been linked with moves to Arsenal, Manchester City and even former side Manchester United.
However, Leicester have stollen a march in the race to land the 30-year-old but his agent, Colin Murdock, wants an additional £4m for his part in setting up the transfer.
Claude Puel’s side announced the arrival of Porto full-back Ricardo Pereira in a £22m deal on Saturday and are now trying to push ahead with their second deal of the summer.
The Foxes have made overhauling their defence a top priority this summer and believe Evans will help improve things at the back.
Evans endured a miserable season for West Brom but still represents great value in today’s market at just £3m.
In fact, since August 2015, only four Premier League players have won possession in the defensive third more times than Evans (368).
