Tottenham keen on La Liga midfielder

Tottenham have set their sights on Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso but will face competition from Premier League rivals Everton, claims The Sun.

Lo Celso has been a revelation for Betis this season and the Spanish side made his loan switch from Paris Saint-Germain permanent last month.

The Argentina international cost Betis €25m but Quique Setien’s side could face a tough test retaining his services for the new season.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has been unable to field his best midfield for most of the season and wants to strengthen there this summer.

The north London outfit failed to replace Mousa Dembele at the start of the year and have paid a heavy price after suffering a sensational end-of-season collapse.

Lo Celso is a central midfielder by trade but has also played as a striker on five occasions this season.

The 23-year-old has impressively scored nine league goals this season and also chipped in with three assists.

His record in the Europa League is even more impressive, scoring five times in just seven appearances.

Furthermore, only Marcos Alonso (7.93) and Sebastien Haller (7.84) have garnered higher WhoScored ratings in this season’s Europa League than Lo Celso (7.80).
