Wolves lead the way for Championship sensation

Wolves currently lead the way to sign Middlesbrough wing-wizard Adama Traore and are prepared to pay £18m up front to push the deal over the line, reports the Sun.

The Premier League new boys have wasted no time in strengthening their squad having secured the services of Rui Patricio and Joao Moutinho in the off-season, while on-loan defender Willy Boly has seen his loan move made permanent.

Traore impressed for Boro last season, gaining a better WhoScored rating (7.80) than any other Championship player.

Tottenham and Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in the Spaniard, but Wolves currently lead the way to secure Traore’s services.

Boro’s failure to successfully navigate the playoffs plunged the 22-year-old’s future at the Riverside Stadium into doubt.

Wolves are now in pole position to sign Traore as they look to assemble a squad more than capable of consolidating a Premier League spot.

Wolves sauntered to the title last season and will hope to carry their good form into the coming campaign.
