Doucoure issues come and get me plea to Paris Saint-Germain

Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure has revealed he would be ‘very happy’ to join Paris Saint-Germain.

With Adrien Rabiot set to join Barcelona on a free transfer at the end of the season, Doucoure has emerged as a surprise candidate to replace the Frenchman at PSG.

Watford have ruled out the chance of selling Doucoure this month despite reports suggesting the 26-year-old has already agreed personal terms with PSG.

However, Javi Gracia’s side may now face a difficult task keeping hold of their star midfielder after Doucoure issued a come and get me plea to the Ligue 1 champions.

“In terms of clubs that are interested in me, of course it is nice to hear, but I am sure that a club like PSG are looking at a lot of things, a lot of options. I am not the only one, there will be several, I am happy that clubs are interested in me,” he told RMC Sport.

“PSG have always been the club of my heart, I grew up in Yvelines, each time I come back to Paris it is great to see my family. PSG has an important place in my heart.

“At PSG, there are only great players. Would I have a place in the squad? I don’t know, they would have to sign me first, I am not even asking myself that question.”

Doucoure has been a revelation for Watford since the beginning of last season and is arguably one of the best midfielders in the Premier League outside the established top six.

The former France Under-21 international has scored 10 goals and provided eight assists in 58 league matches since August 2017.

Furthermore, in that time Doucoure has also won possession in the middle third more times than any other player in England’s top-flight (284).
