Madrid eye Wolfsburg's Rodriguez

Real Madrid are interested in signing Wolfsburg full-back Ricardo Rodriguez, according to Marca.

The La Liga giants are reportedly sounding out long-term replacements for Fabio Coentrao, for whom Madrid have reservations regarding his injury problems and form on the pitch.

Rodriguez, 22, is Madrid’s preferred choice, according to Marca, but they are also alleged to be monitoring Bayern Munich’s David Alaba and Porto’s Alex Sandro.

“It is nice to hear it [the interest], but I am a Wolfsburg player,” Rodriguez replied to reporters who quizzed him on the potential move at the club’s pre-season training camp in Donaueschingen.

The Switzerland international’s threat going forward has caught the attention of a number of high profile European clubs in the past, including Manchester United. In the last two Bundesliga campaigns, only Johannes Geis (121) has delivered more accurate crosses than Rodriguez (116).
