Crystal Palace ready January move for Besiktas striker
Crystal Palace will look to improve their chances of Premier League survival by signing Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun in January, reports The Daily Mirror.
The Eagles were linked with a move for Tosun during the summer and Besiktas have reportedly intimated they would be willing to listen to offers for the 26-year-old at the start of next year.
Roy Hodgson is currently without a recognised striker but £27m striker Christian Benteke is expected to return from a serious knee injury within the month to provide the Premier League strugglers with a huge boost.
However, the Palace manager doesn’t want to leave anything to chance and will look to sign a new striker in January to bolster his offensive options, with Tosun at the top of his wish list.
Palace’s 2-1 win over Chelsea last weekend was not only their first league win of the campaign, but it was also the first time they have scored in the Premier League this season.
Tosun has spent the last three years with Besiktas and has established himself as a regular goalscoring in the Turkish Super Lig. However, Hodgson was finally convinced of his credentials after Tosun netted twice against Monaco in a 2-1 win in the Champions League on Tuesday, taking his tally to three for the campaign.
Since the start of last season, only Vagner Love (30) has scored more goals in the Turkish Super Lig than Tosun (23).
