Real Madrid have confirmed that Sergio Ramos sustained an injury in their 4-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk last night.
According to the club website: “Following the tests carried out on Sergio Ramos today in the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital, the player has been diagnosed with dislocated acromioclavicular joint in his left shoulder."
Although the shoulder did not appear injured immediately following his theatrical tumble in Shakthar Donetsk's penalty area at the Bernabeu, the captain was substituted for Nacho Fernandez after 59 minutes.
The centre-half was not the only player to give Rafa Benitez cause for concern. Gareth Bale had already come off earlier in the match with an ankle injury.
No return date has yet been set for either player, but the club will be hoping both will be fit for their derby on the 4th of next month.
Ramos took to Twitter after the news of his injury broke to say: “Always with a smile, whatever happens. Working hard to come back stronger. #HalaMadrid”
Sergio Ramos has blocked 5 shots in his 3 La Liga appearances this season, no player has blocked more.
