Real Madrid have announced Raphael Varane has put pen to paper on a new five-year deal until June 2022.
Isco, Dani Carvajal, Marcelo and Karim Benzema have all signed new contracts in the last month and Varane has become the latest Madrid player to pledge his long-term future.
The 24-year-old has spent the last six years at Madrid and has now finally established himself as a first-team regular for Zinedine Zidane’s side in the wake of Pepe’s departure at the end of last season.
Varane is regarded as one of the best centre-backs on the continent and has previously been linked with a move to Manchester United to reunite with former manage Jose Mourinho.
Injuries have often limited Varane’s involvement in recent seasons and he has only managed to start three league games this term.
Since August 2012, Madrid have a better win ratio in La Liga with Varane in the starting XI (76.6%) compared to when he has not started from the off (69.6%).
